International Day Agains Noise 28th April 2010

Nowadays, who has not missed a moment of peace, quiet and a peaceful atmosphere, less hostile?
Noise is one of the most dangerous pollutants for health.
The World Day against noise, is made to aware people of their effects and preventive measures to avoid damage to integral health.
The silence was so important and valued in some ancient cultures, for example, in Rome in the first century, it was forbiden the movement of horses and carts through the city and the penalty for those who disturbed the order and the silence was imprisonment or even death.
However, humanity began to develope and not just the smoke was the symbol of progress, but also the noise.
The human being is always looking for ways to improve his life, he
overburdened not only large cities, but his personal life in a series of appliances, tools, machinery and equipment, to achieve their objective while also causing a serious damage to the environment and health.
The noise is a part of environmental pollution. It seriously affects the hearing of those who are usually in contact with him.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that 76% of the population living in large cities, suffers from a noise impact higher than recommended. This is reflected in their quality of life: stress, irritability, hypertension, headaches, palpitations, fatigue, hearing loss, sleep and digestive problems...
In furute, many young people will suffer from hearing impairment by the excessive use of CD players and radios with headphones, the volume that they put to music at home. It also increases the risk of accidents.
It is proved that the ear takes about 36 hours to recover their normal hearing sensitivity after spending a night under the loud music of a nightclub or disco.

Who moved my cheese?

"Who moved my cheese?" is a story about the change that has
place in a maze where four amazing characters are looking for a "cheese". The cheese is a metaphor for what every one wants in life, whether a good work, a loving relationship, money, a big house, freedom, health, or even an activity like playing sports.
Each of us has his own idea of what is cheese, and go after
because he thinks it makes him happy. If you are successful, that is great, but if you lost, the experience is often traumatic.
The maze represents where you spend your time looking for what you want.
We are usually in changes, and this used to be stressful, unless people have a way of seeing the change. This is precisely where this story enters
in action.

I hope you find something new and useful in the story, and that it will help you coping with change and succeed, whatever the success for you.

I hope you enjoy what you find and remember: move with the cheese!

The Salon du Chocolat already have 15 international editions, and preparing other in several new countries to conquer.
I was there in October 2009 in Paris. There were a large number of stands where you could sample some chocolate, savour recipes prepared by famous chefs and confectioners and admire works of art made of chocolate.
In this occasion, the Paris Chocolate Show staged a fashion-chocolate fusion. They presented a prestigious collection of “dressmaking" dresses in chocolate designed by talented duos of fashion designs and chocolatiers.
There was a “Cocoa Show” dedicated to culture from cocoa producing countries, they presented local dances, chants, rites and demonstrations.
Conferences and offers tasting sessions took place too.
Apart of that, for the top artisan chocolatiers in the world and the most remarkable chocolates, chocolate awards were celebrated. The Chocolate Awards were given in recognition of the art of chocolate making and the creative men and women who play out their passion for excellence.

La luciole

La luciole, is an Association of family support for parents and young drug addicts. I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer there for a week. It was a great experience! I would like to tell you my experience there and a little about this organization.

In "la luciole" the community life, healthy schedules, sharing meals, work in the garden, contact with animals, craft workshops and art, relax, listen, allow everyone to rediscover interests, to discover talents and gain confidence in themselves.
It is proposed to participate in short stays from one day to one week.
The house is not a post-cure or a nursing home, but a place to live, to make a link between the history of each and it will build tomorrow.
The objective is rebuilding his life without drugs and to experience that this is possible.

For me it was a striking experience because I could meet young people that are fighting against drugs, and It was incredible they desire to succeed. Apart of that, I took gardening lessons and I could enjoy myself having a contact with nature working in the farm. The staff, Valére and Etienne, they were really very nice and I enjoyed working with them.

Relieve stress by drawing

Art can express your creative side and drawing skills to reduce stress and get intouch with your feelings. When I need take my mind off, at least for a few minute, drawing used to be my distraction. I reach a state of being completely engaged and it carries me relax. Sometimes with all of life´s responsabilities we forget that we need "down time" so having a hobby can make us feel more balanced in our lifestyle. This morning I did it. The result: a nice portrait from myself and my brains brilliant to continue studying :)
