OK!

FOR SARA WITH LOVE

si nunca has sufrido de anorexia,
si tu estatura no afecta tu desarrollo personal,

Una mujer exquisita no es aquella que más hombres tiene a sus pies;
el cutis más terso o el cabello más llamativo;

Una mujer valiosa no es aquella que tiene más títulos, ni más cargos académicos;
foco somos los hombres);

PHOTO CONTEST

As 2010 is the European Year of Fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion, my university organized a Photo Contest for Youth last month. I decided to take part in it, so I took my camera and I went out. Walking round the city (Paris in this moment) I took some pictures. Finally, I presented this one but unfortunatelly, my photo is not the winner.

Flash mob in the city

Flashmob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse. They are organized via internet, social media, or emails. The term is not applied to protests.
Nowadays they are taking place all around the world: pillow flights, uncontrolled dancing, travelling in the public transport without trousers... Humor is the main character and any act is good to make everyday happier!

Today, on the beach of Albir Alicante (near Benidorm in Spain) 2.500 people will dance with an Scandinavian choreographer... It is too far from the place where I live, what a pity!

Oceans

Oceans is a 2010 French-American nature documentary film by Jacques Perrin distributed by Disneynature. The film opens a window on underwater lives filled with emotion and fraught with danger.
Oceans was shot in sea sanctuaries over more than 70 expeditions across the world. Some of the film's scenes take place in a museum of extinct species, made more haunting with the knowledge that the animals died out because of humankind. In the ocean, big fish eat little fish, sharks and orcas eat seals and sea lions, and frigate birds snap up baby sea turtles...

The film illustrates everything Oceans does and fails to do.On one hand, the visuals are top-class, they allows viewers to swim among the fish.On the other hand, the narration read by Pierce Brosnan is the film's weakest link.

Personally, the film impacted me. I could never forget one scene: a shark caught in a trawling net is thrown back into the water, bleeding heavily from where its fin was cut off to be eaten as a delicacy. The gasping shark is shown falling down into the bloody water.

Finally, it is interesting to witness what we have done to our environment, and to see pollution, catches and overfishing as the fish see it. This really is a film that manages to show us things we've never seen and make what we have already seen look different and new.

International Day Agains Noise 28th April 2010

Nowadays, who has not missed a moment of peace, quiet and a peaceful atmosphere, less hostile?
Noise is one of the most dangerous pollutants for health.
The World Day against noise, is made to aware people of their effects and preventive measures to avoid damage to integral health.
The silence was so important and valued in some ancient cultures, for example, in Rome in the first century, it was forbiden the movement of horses and carts through the city and the penalty for those who disturbed the order and the silence was imprisonment or even death.
However, humanity began to develope and not just the smoke was the symbol of progress, but also the noise.
The human being is always looking for ways to improve his life, he
overburdened not only large cities, but his personal life in a series of appliances, tools, machinery and equipment, to achieve their objective while also causing a serious damage to the environment and health.
The noise is a part of environmental pollution. It seriously affects the hearing of those who are usually in contact with him.
The World Health Organization (WHO) states that 76% of the population living in large cities, suffers from a noise impact higher than recommended. This is reflected in their quality of life: stress, irritability, hypertension, headaches, palpitations, fatigue, hearing loss, sleep and digestive problems...
In furute, many young people will suffer from hearing impairment by the excessive use of CD players and radios with headphones, the volume that they put to music at home. It also increases the risk of accidents.
It is proved that the ear takes about 36 hours to recover their normal hearing sensitivity after spending a night under the loud music of a nightclub or disco.

Anna Kostenko´s Art

Anna Kostenko was born in 1975 in Kiev (Ukraine) and since 1991 she lives in Polonia.
She was graduated from the Academy of arts in Cracow and she was especialized in painting.
His fascination for different cultures has led to extensive travels that inspire her work, which has been shown in many countries.
Her pictures are such a realistic that we could mistake them for photographies... Don´t you think so?

Who moved my cheese?

"Who moved my cheese?" is a story about the change that has
place in a maze where four amazing characters are looking for a "cheese". The cheese is a metaphor for what every one wants in life, whether a good work, a loving relationship, money, a big house, freedom, health, or even an activity like playing sports.
Each of us has his own idea of what is cheese, and go after
because he thinks it makes him happy. If you are successful, that is great, but if you lost, the experience is often traumatic.
The maze represents where you spend your time looking for what you want.
We are usually in changes, and this used to be stressful, unless people have a way of seeing the change. This is precisely where this story enters
in action.

I hope you find something new and useful in the story, and that it will help you coping with change and succeed, whatever the success for you.

I hope you enjoy what you find and remember: move with the cheese!

Salon du chocolat

The “Salon du Chocolat”(Chocoland) is the largest global event dedicated to chocolate.
Created in 1994 by Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet, a couple of passionate entrepreneurs, it never ceases to grow and has a passion without borders.
The Salon du Chocolat already have 15 international editions, and preparing other in several new countries to conquer.
I was there in October 2009 in Paris. There were a large number of stands where you could sample some chocolate, savour recipes prepared by famous chefs and confectioners and admire works of art made of chocolate.
In this occasion, the Paris Chocolate Show staged a fashion-chocolate fusion. They presented a prestigious collection of “dressmaking" dresses in chocolate designed by talented duos of fashion designs and chocolatiers.
There was a “Cocoa Show” dedicated to culture from cocoa producing countries, they presented local dances, chants, rites and demonstrations.
Conferences and offers tasting sessions took place too.
Apart of that, for the top artisan chocolatiers in the world and the most remarkable chocolates, chocolate awards were celebrated. The Chocolate Awards were given in recognition of the art of chocolate making and the creative men and women who play out their passion for excellence.
If you are mad about chocolate, I show you the 2010 Chocoland´s calendar:

Paris Salon du Chocolat from 28th of October to 1st of November 2010
Hong Kong Grand Tasting from 3rd to 5th of November 2010
New York Salon du Chocolat from 11th to 14th of November 2010
Madrid Salon du Chocolat from 26th to 28th of November 2010

The success of the Salon du Chocolat, which has drawn more than 120,000 visitors per year since 1995,convincingly shows that chocolate plays a unique and irreplaceable part in our society.

Long live chocolate!
Chocolate Banzai!
Que viva el chocolate!
Es lebe die Shokolade!
Evviva il cioccolato!

La luciole

La luciole, is an Association of family support for parents and young drug addicts. I had the opportunity to work as a volunteer there for a week. It was a great experience! I would like to tell you my experience there and a little about this organization.

In "la luciole" the community life, healthy schedules, sharing meals, work in the garden, contact with animals, craft workshops and art, relax, listen, allow everyone to rediscover interests, to discover talents and gain confidence in themselves.
It is proposed to participate in short stays from one day to one week.
The house is not a post-cure or a nursing home, but a place to live, to make a link between the history of each and it will build tomorrow.
The objective is rebuilding his life without drugs and to experience that this is possible.

For me it was a striking experience because I could meet young people that are fighting against drugs, and It was incredible they desire to succeed. Apart of that, I took gardening lessons and I could enjoy myself having a contact with nature working in the farm. The staff, Valére and Etienne, they were really very nice and I enjoyed working with them.

Relieve stress by drawing

Art can express your creative side and drawing skills to reduce stress and get intouch with your feelings. When I need take my mind off, at least for a few minute, drawing used to be my distraction. I reach a state of being completely engaged and it carries me relax. Sometimes with all of life´s responsabilities we forget that we need "down time" so having a hobby can make us feel more balanced in our lifestyle. This morning I did it. The result: a nice portrait from myself and my brains brilliant to continue studying :)

Pink glove dance

With this funny video, the Medline and Providence St. Vincent Hospital has promoted and supported Breast Cancer Awareness. That´s such a light hearted approach was taken to create awareness for a serious disease that can be cured if caught early.
All the staff is dancing and if they get 1.000.000 clicks in Youtube, they will get a donation for breast cancer treatment by the company that makes gloves roses
The positive response and reaction that the "Pink Gloves Dance" video has received has been incredible and I hope they reach their objective.

Les jeunes ont la parole

Every friday, I can´t help remembering the Louvre´s Museum. For me, this is the best place to have a nice time after work on fridays.
"Les jeunes ont la parole" is a program that allows art history students all over Paris present works at the Louvre to the general public.
In the Museum they offer visitors a dialogue with students from diverse backgrounds, art history, cultural mediation, tourism, sculpture, film and music... It´s fantastic to go to share their knowledge and interest in their works choice.
For young people, whatever their training, the objective is to explain the pictures. Everything is in the exchange between young people and visitors, between students from different backgrounds...
I have learnt lots of curiosities thanks to this group of young people and it´s a great opportunity to promote the students of art history.
